Joan Griswold

Joan Griswold is an artist who is preoccupied by light and its effect on surfaces and planes of the architectural environment we live in. A close look at Griswold’s paintings yields a self described “mess” of paint strokes, yet as one moves back the picture as a whole comes into focus and is clear. This view captures patterns of light onto interior and exterior scenes, a couch, a bed, a building facade or an archway.

“I aim to capture light with paint.”
