Amy Pleasant

My work includes drawing, painting, and sculpture all exploring the body through a repetitive and calligraphic drawing process.  With a limited palette and an economy of line, I develop a visual language, like an alphabet, documenting essential, universal motions and human behaviors. Looking to the historic lineage of image-making and the primal urge to create likeness, I crop, fragment and flatten out the figure, re-envisioning archetypes of human representation, speaking to the collective human experience.

Amy lives and works in Alabama.
