Stephen Gerard Dietemann
My work emerges from a deep and ongoing conversation with nature. I create using materials found in the landscape—fallen branches, river-washed stones, decaying material, and pigment-rich soil—transforming natural debris into watercolor, tempera/gouache paintings and sculptural forms. These elements are not just tools, but collaborators, carrying the story of their environments into each piece.
At the heart of my practice lies the intersection of land and water—a place of erosion, renewal, and quiet transformation. Whether it’s the careful blending of earth-inspired tones on paper or the organic form of a sculpture assembled from forest floor remnants, my work reflects the spaces where boundaries dissolve and new forms emerge.
